The Ruk Sport Dual Chamber inflatable Paddle Float
Paddle floats are one of the first pieces of rescue kit you should have when paddling on open water.
They serve many purposes, but essentially are fitted over the blade of your kayak paddle, secured using the strap and inflated so that when you paddle is attached across the back deck of your kayak, it acts as an outrigger, offering buoyancy on one side and counter balance on the other so you are stable both ways.This can be used to stabilise a kayak in rough conditions, keep a sea sick or injured paddler stable while you tow them to safety, or most commonly to stabilise the craft while you try to perform a deep water reentry.
Basic Floats are foam which is bulky, better floats are inflatable single chamber floats as they are compact, but the BEST like this one are DUAL CHAMBER, so that if one chamber is ruptured, you have the back up second chamber you can still use. while you would tend to inflate both chambers, only 1 is needed for the float to do its job.
